On 25 November 2025, a group of 26 technicians from the Guadalquivir River Basin Authority (Andalusia) visited the Experimental Centre for New Water Technologies (CENTA) in Carrión de los Céspedes, Seville. The visit aimed to explore the latest advances in wastewater treatment, water storage, and reuse currently being developed by the Environmental and Water Agency (AMAYA).
During the visit, participants toured CENTA’s experimental area, where Case Study 1 of the NATMed project is being implemented and assessed. This initiative focuses on:
- Treating wastewater through constructed wetlands
- Improving the quality of stored water using floating gardens
- Applying ultrasound technologies
- Reusing reclaimed water to irrigate olive groves, supporting sustainable agricultural practices
The session continued with presentations on AMAyA’s ongoing projects related to water reuse in agriculture, highlighting the role of the NATMed Project and Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) in improving water management, enhancing resilience to extreme weather events, and supporting ecological restoration in Mediterranean environments.
